Applications Available: US looking for 1000 youth leaders in Africa

US Government has published an opportunity young leaders in various parts of Africa. 1000 youth leaders are being gathered together for 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

This opportunity is especially for young people between the ages of 25 and 35 at the time of application submission, although exceptional applicants younger than 25 will also be considered.

According to information available to CSNews Online, the applicants must not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. and they are to ensure that their passports are valid till at least 2017.Ability to read, write, and speak English, will be highly appreciated. They must also be keen to avoid grammatical blunders and typos, also avoiding big words, wherein if they are used will be readily explained by the person using it.

Furthermore, applicants must also be aware of the following important eligibility points.

· A proven record of leadership and accomplishment in public service, business and entrepreneurship, or civic engagement.

· A demonstrated commitment to public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship.

· The ability to work cooperatively in diverse groups and respect the opinions of others.

· Strong social and communication skills.

· An energetic, positive attitude.

· Demonstrated knowledge, interest and professional experience in the sector/track selected.

· A commitment to return to Africa and apply leadership skills and training to benefit the applicant’s country and/or community after they return home. You would be unable to relocate to the US for two years, only visits.

Applicants must be ready to share some basic information that may include questions regarding the applicant’s professional and academic experience, including educational background; honors and awards received; extracurricular and volunteer activities; and English language proficiency.

False information will not be entertained nor those found to proffer such allowed to participate in the programme.
