Benue Launches Campaign to End Violence Against Children

The Benue State Government in collaboration with SMILE Foundation on Monday launched a campaign to end violence against children.

The wife of Benue State governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom, who launched the campaign at Benue Hotels Makurdi, decried the high rate of violence perpetrated against children in the state.
Mrs. Ortom maintained that the present administration was making concerted effort with relevant stakeholders to take proactive steps to end violence against children in the state.
Earlier, in her address, Commissioner for Women and Social Development, Mrs. Mwuese Mnyim, said the Vulnerable Children State Steering Committee decided to launched the campaign to end violence against children.
Mnyim explained that the measure has become necessary in order to guarantee, and safeguard the future of children who, most of the times, are unnecessarily traumatised.
She said the committee has recorded over 58 cases of child abuse and violence against children this year.
She called on parents to always treats their children in a manner that would make them feel loved and care.
