Benue residents get free HIV/AIDS treatment

About 4, 000 people from Tarka Local Government Council of Benue State yesterday benefitted from the free medical treatment organized by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA in collaboration with Millennium Development Goals MDGs’ office.

The four-day medical outreach, which is holding in the local council at Aboho Primary Healthcare Centre, Mbaayo ward and Tarhembe Primary Health Care Centre of Mbaigba Ward has a team of medical doctors as well as other health personnels, freely screening and testing people of ailments including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, diabetes, Blood Pressure, and de-worming of children among others.

Declaring the free medical outreach open, Deputy Chairman of Tarka LGA, Shachia Tarka advised the people of the area to avail themselves of the four-day free medical opportunity, even as he assured the team of security in the area.

Tarka lauded MDGs and NACA for finding his people worthy to benefit from the free medical care and urged them to accord the visitors a hospitable stay.

In his remarks, representative of the Director General of NACA, Prof John Idoko, Mr. Lawrence Kwaghga advised the beneficiaries to spread the information to others to avail themselves of the opportunity.

He appealed to the people not to shy away from presenting themselves for the several test and screening brought to them; noting that times are rift for every persons to know his or her status.
