Betneely Foundation Trains IDC’s Women on TBA

With the effort to empower and give succour to pregnant women in Internally Displace Camps, Betneely Charity Foundation – an organisation that supports self-reliance and participatory development through advocacy, sensitization and mobilization campaign to address injustice that affects non participatory to participatory development has trained 45 women as Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA) in three Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Adamawa.

The Managing Director of the foundation, Mrs Betty Olutunde said the intention of the gesture is to help in bringing succour to pregnant women in the camps.

Olutunde, represented by Mrs Hajara Kadiri, a board member in the foundation said the midwife training provided to the women, 15 each selected from the three camps in the state was done with support from U.S Embassy in Nigeria.

Olutunde urged the trainees to make use of thenowledge acquired in assisting their fellow women in the camps.

Also speaking, the state Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Sa’ad Bello lauded the development which he said would go a long way in checking infant mortality in the camp.

Bello, represented by Hajiya Amina Hamman, also lauded other organisations that had been assisting in making life better for the IDPs, and assuring that NEMA was always ready to partner with them in that direction.

Many of the trainees described their experiences as wonderful, adding that they were prepared to contribute positively by helping pregnant women in the camps and their communities whenever the need arose.
