As part of efforts to strengthen the coordination drive in statistical production process in Nigeria, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has organised a workshop to educate stakeholders on data mapping for Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria, SDGS.
Speaking at the Stakeholders Workshop today in Abuja, SDGS Co-ordinator, Dr Yemi Kale, said the initiative would provide a platform for stakeholders to gain clear understanding of their responsibilities and instill a high sense of ownership in their quest to provide Government with adequate, reliable and timely statistical information for policy design.
In the same vein, the head of department, Demography and Social Statistics, NBS, Patricia Eweama, said the bureau was vigorously embarking on extensive engagement of all relevant stakeholders to brainstorm on the proposed SDGS with a view to achieving a common understanding of their relevance to the Nigerian context.
Eweama however expressed optimism that, with early preparation and the right framework in place, harmonised concepts and methodology in line with international best practices, will facilitate successful measurement of the SDGs.
