The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande has charged unemployed youths in the State to learn Vocational Skills and be productive instead of loitering around.
The Commissioner gave the charge during a fact finding inspection of as part of her ongoing familiarization tour of Skill Acquisition Centres under the Ministry.
Akande, who was visibly unhappy with the low turnout of trainees at the Centre called on the youth in the area to seize the opportunity of the tuition free skill acquisition programme of the government to acquire more knowledge in order to be self dependent.
She however congratulated students in the Adult Literacy Class for taking the bold step despite their age to acquire formal education, stressing that their learning will give them an edge in the society to improve their lives and that of their immediate family.
The Commissioner later visited Igboye Skill Acquisition Centre at Epe and Lagos Island Skill Acquisition Centre, Oja Oba, Lagos Island.
