Dental Africa Conference: Nigerians encouraged to pay more attention to oral health

The importance of dental health and hygiene was reinforced at the Dental Africa Exhibition and Conference event organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions in association with the Nigerian Dental Association.

The thre-day event which holds at the Eko International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Lagos, Nigeria, started on Wednesday,7th of October will end on the 9th of October.

Sponsored by key players in the dental praction, there were a host of dental experts, leaders, stakeholders, and members of the general public who attended the event to learn more about dental care and to interact with experts by means of listening and asking of questions during the first day of the event.

Being the second of its kind in Nigeria, the Dental Exhibition and Conference is the gateway to the emerging and far-reaching dental market across the West Africa region.

It is the largest platform in West Africa for the regional and international dental stakeholders, dealers, distributors, suppliers and service providers to meet and interact with new partners and key industry players.

There were exhibitors from all parts of Africa, Europe, Asia, and the United States of America.

Some of the key speakers for day one were Dr Folu Olatona, Consultant Public Health Physician, Dept. of Community Health, College of Medicine, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, who took the audience through the theme: Diet, lifestyle and dentistry – The common risk factor approach.

Other speakers were, Dr Adegboyega Ogunwale, Consultant Psychiatrist, Forensic Unit, Neuropsychiatric hospital, Ogun State, Nigeria; Dr (Mrs) O.O. Onigbinde, Department of Preventive Dentistry, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The speakers educated the audience on various issue about health, especially oral health and other health issues that bothered even outside dentistry. Spectacular among the lectures was the one that had to do with leadership and management in dentistry.
