Ese Oruru the 14 year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by Yinusa Dahiru to Kano, allegedly raped and impregnated has given birth to a baby girl.

Dahiru had allegedly abducted her in August 2015 and upon her rescue in February 2016, she was already six months old pregnant.

Signs that Ese had entered her third trimester emerged on May 12 during the hearing of her application for her evidence to be obtained in camera.

Justice Ajiya Hyeladzira Nganjiwa had granted the application and requested that she should be led in evidence at his chambers on June 2 when the case is expected to resume.

However the prosecution counsel, James Anata had pleaded he would stand down her own evidence because of her condition.

Investigations revealed Ese Oruru had entered labour yesterday morning at her temporary residence located at the Bayelsa state officers mess and she was rushed to the Government House clinic where she was delivered of a baby girl.

Initially she was billed to be taken to the Federal Medical Centre( FMC) Yenagoa but due to the on-going strike embarked upon by Resident Doctors and medical personnel her parents and police authorities agreed that she should taken to the Government House clinic instead of a private hospital.

Her father, Mr Charles Oruru who confirmed the news said the family is grateful to God that she has given birth safely.

“Yes Ese gave birth this afternoon to a baby girl. We thank God that she delivered safely. She and the baby are in good condition”.

Mr Kizito Andah of Kindling Hope Across Nigeria and Child Protection Network who also confirmed the news said it is uppermost in the mind of the family and those who have supported her in the quest to get justice, to thank God for her safe delivery.

According to him calls for DNA test by youth’s groups are immaterial now as the family is in joyful mood that she gave birth without any complications. The wife of Bayelsa Governor, Mrs. Racheal Dickson has described as ‘divine’ Ese Oruru’s baby that was delivered at the Government House Clinic by a medical team led by Dr. James Omietimi and Monica Olamide.

One of the Doctors, Mrs. Monica Osamede confirmed that Ese Oruru and her child will be monitored.

“We thank God it is well.”

According to investigations, the new baby girl weighed at birth 3kg and Mrs Dickson was the first person to visit Ese and her baby at the clinic.

She was said to have expressed gratitude to the medical team for her safe delivery.

Mrs Dickson assured that the state government would take adequate care of Ese and ensure her early return to school.

“She is a precious and divine baby. I am happy as a mother for her safe delivery. Afterward, she will return to school,” she said.

Meanwhile, there is restriction to the Government House clinic to prevent people from visiting the new mother and her baby.
