The Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has implored intending Muslim pilgrims to project and promote the good image of the state and the country in the holy land.
Ambode said this at a one-day seminar organised for 2015 intending Muslim pilgrims in Lagos State, which took place today at LTV Blue Roof, Ikeja, Lagos.
The governor said Lagos State had the highest number of intending pilgrims in Southern Nigeria, urging them to be united and imbibe the tenets of Islam.
The governor stated that embarking on holy pilgrimage was one of the fundamental tenets of islam, saying they should be mindful of their interactions with fellow pilgrims and others in the holy land.
Ambode said he had approved various welfare packages to make them more comfortable when performing their Islamic rites.
Earlier, the guest lecturer, Tajudeen Yusuf, who delivered a lecture on “Social Economic and ambassadorial implications of Hajj, urged them to inculcate patience, tolerance, acceptance and forgiving spirit in order to be a good ambassador of the state.
