Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, Debo Adeniran, called for Saraki’s resignation, saying he should resign for now, but if he was found to be innocent, then Nigerians would have reason to apologise to him and his dignity would be restored.
Similarly, Executive Director Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, Adetokunbo Mumuni described Nigeria as a peculiar place, where issues of probity, integrity and adherence to the rule of law would be questioned and politicians would continue to remain in public office as if those things didn’t matter.
In the same vein, Convener, Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, Ayo Opadokun, said even if Saraki was innocent until the tribunal found him guilty, it had become morally necessary for the Senate President to resign from office.
