The Student Union Government of the Kaduna State Polytechnic has passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students due to the groups inability to advocate the resolution of the ongoing ASUP strike. The strike has been on now for three months yet there is no end in sight as technical schools all over Nigeria are paralysed.
At a press briefing in Kaduna, the Union has also expressed disappointment on ASUP ‘s cold attitude to resolve this issue unlike their university counterparts. They have therefore encouraged ASUP to utilise the media in the ongoing struggle since the Federal Government only seems to respond to issues that are pressed upon them.
They have accused the Federal Government of showing a bias towards technical schools as the President’s promise to overhaul the educational sector in January 2012 is yet to commence meanwhile progress is being observed in the university sector.
The Student Union Government of Kaduna State Polytechnic therefore appeal to the Federal Government to come to the rescue of Polytechnics and technical schools in the country before both sectors become totally crippled.
