LG boss calls for compliance with sanitation law

The Chairman of Igando Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Wale Ali, has appealed to the people of the area to abide by the Environmental and Sanitation Laws of the State for healthy living.

Speaking at a Stakeholders Meeting, Ali reiterated the need for the people to cooperate and be patient with the State Government so as to get the best out of current administration.

Ali, who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Council, Mr. Bolarinwa Olufemi urged the officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Brigade to mount enlightenment campaign embark on the activities of the Brigade.

In his own contribution, the Head of Public Relations and Environmental Education Unit of the Brigade, Mr. Tunde Olusesi, stated that the Environmental Sanitation Law of the State prohibits open defecation or urinating into drainage or open space.

The law, he further said, also prohibits anyone or group of persons from trading or hawking at unauthorized place, which include, walk way, drainage area, road setback or median.

He advised the traders to make use of public or mobile toilets, eateries and banks restrooms whenever necessary.

Olusesi also urged them to form a united front and partner with financial institution in order to raise loans to erect shops so as to put an end to unwholesome habit of street trading.
