The new technical adviser of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF, Martin Adomeit, says two weeks is not enough for him to produce a team that will win seven Gold medals at stake in Table Tennis events at the All Africa Games, AAG, billed for next month in Congo Brazzaville.
Adomeit, who has been at the team training sessions at the knock-up at the national stadium, Surulere, since last Thursday, admitted that the country was blessed with credible and talented ping-pongers capable of beating world rated table tennis players in major competitions, but the players lacked technical depth of the game despite possessing basic and fundamental skills of the sports.
Adomeit, who tutored Aruna Quadri to the last International Table Tennis Federation World Cup, said the nation’s ping pongers should be disciplined, believe in their ability to outwit their arch-rivals, Egypt and Congo Brazaville that have been on a training tour of China for a year .
While urging the NTTF coaches to work together as a team and also share their wealth of experiences with the players in order to win laurels at the Games, said he would discuss the players deficiencies with the federation’s coaching crew headed by Nosiru Bello, in order to surpass their records in the AAG.
