The Director General, National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi has called for more support from organisations, agencies and individuals as the number of graduates being mobilised have become enormous.
He said the federal government could no longer sustain the scheme alone.
Brigadier General Olawumi made the remarks at the 2016 desk officers workshop organised by the NYSC foundation in Abuja.
Represented by Director, Corp Mobilisation, Mr. Anthony Ani, the director general said the government’s economy was dwindling hence there was the need to support the scheme to help sustain the welfare of the corps members.
He said the NYSC foundation had been supporting the scheme but pointed out that it would not be able to carry the burden alone hence the need for more support from other organisations.
Chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation, Abubakar Abdullahi said the foundation had been doing a lot to support the scheme.
