The student leaders who divided themselves into five groups addressed their younger ones on areas as leadership, citizenship participation in governance as well as responsible followership.
They also took time to explain the investment of the mimiko-led government in education including construction of mega schools, free shuttle, and low tuition for tertiary institutions in the state.
After the teaching session, the student leaders converged at the mega Primary School at Iro for a ‘feedback and experience sharing session.’
The governor in a message to the event delivered by the Vice-president, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Aiyenuro Timileyin said his government will continue to make the right investment in the sector.
He called on the students to constructively engage his
administration to ensure the state remains an enviable one.
Some of the student leaders who bare their minds during the interactive session including the president of FUTA Students Union Government (SUG), Fowobaje oluwaseun and his counterpart from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), Ogunade kayode applauded Governor Mimiko for his achievements in education sector and encouraged him to do more.
The schoolchildren and their teachers also thanked the student leaders for the initiative to impact knowledge instead of the usual funfare of marking the day in years past.
