No fewer than 5, 000 beneficiaries received free medical test, counseling and drugs on different ailments, including hypertension, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and malaria in a medical outreach in Osun State.
The programme was organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) in collaboration with Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and Honourable Adeyinka Ajayi, representing Ifelodun/Odo-Otin/Boripe Federal Constituency. The beneficiaries were the people of Ifelodun/Odo-Otin/Boripe Federal Constituency.
NACA Director General, Pro. John Idoko, said the four-day programme was targeted at the rural dwellers with prevention messages on HIV/AIDS, diagnosis and treatment of some ailments, such as hypertension, malaria, deworming of children, random blood sugar level, as well as clinical consultation and referral of other diseases that could not be handled during the outreach.
Idoko said the objective of the outreach was to accomplish zero tolerance to new HIV/AIDS infection through adequate testing and counseling, alongside other health-related prevention activities nationwide.
The NACA boss, who was represented by Dr. Mrs. Uduak Essen, Prevention Focal Person and NACA PIU HIV/Aids Programme Abuja, said the outreach was also to ensure that the MDG’s target for the country was adequately achieved.
He charged the people of the state on the need to always go for medical checkup in a bid to know their health status.
