PACJA Launches 2nd Edition of ACCER Awards

PACJAThe Pan African Climate Justice Alliance, PACJA, has launched the 2nd edition of the African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting(ACCER) Awards inDakar, Senegal.

Secretary General of PACJA, Mithika Mwenda said, the event which was held on the Island of Goree off the Senegalese Coast will honour African journalists who have excelled in reporting issues of climate change and the environment.and whose stories are impacting policy decisions and livelihoods on the continent.

He however noted that PACJA was not impressedby the number of entriws obtained from francophone countries. He urged journalists from Senegal and other french speaking countries to send more entries in the forthcoming awards.

He said,” I am very confident that the ACCER awards will drive environmental reporting across Africa for sustainable development.

The ACCER awards is designed to reward exemplary journalists and media houses whose reporting influences national policy formulation and implementation processes on climate change issues.

The identification of the recipient of the award will undergo a strict process of professional panels and judges in order to give the process the much needed credibilty.
