A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Senator Lekan Balogun, on Thursday urged Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari over allegation of lopsided appointments during the monthly guest forum of Oodua newspapers in Ibadan yesterday.
Balogun said that a new party would emerge from the PDP ahead of 2019 general election.
“I foresee a new party emerging out of the fall of PDP from power after the 2015 elections, when the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) took over”.
Balogun who is the Osi Olubadan of Ibadan, said that the PDP failed in the re-election bid because those at the helm of affairs refused to listen to elders’ advice.
“Some members of the party have gotten to a point of no return and I think they could break away,” he said.
The former lawmaker, who took a cursory look at the collapse of the PDP in Oyo State blamed it on the top echelons of the party in Abuja, and warned APC not to make the same mistakes made by PDP.
“The fall of PDP at both Oyo State and federal level is dialectic. Former President Goodluck Jonathan was good, but some of his ministers and party men did not help matters,” he said.
Balogun, who claimed to had sent series of text messages to PDP leaders in Abuja, advising them without any response, said he predicted what happened to the party.
