YACORE ROAD MAPAn alliance of youth civil society is bringing youth stakeholders from diverse groups and organisations together by creating a platform for them to discuss issues evolving in this pre-election era and proffer a framework on how youths can be actively integrated during the elections and beyond.

The programme is tagged “National Youth Conference on the Roadmap for the 2015 Elections” organised by the Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth & Advancement (YIAGA), Youth Alliance on Constitution & Electoral Reform (YACORE) and the Democratic Governance for Development Project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP/DGD) will commence on the 28th  through 30th of January, 2013 in Abuja.

The conference seeks to engage youths in the electoral process considering the tension present in the political atmosphere which might affect the credibility of the coming electoral year if not properly addressed. Issues to be addressed include uncertainty of the legal and constitutional framework for elections, election logistics management, violence and insecurity, lack of internal party democracy and discipline, credibility of the voters register, corruption and impunity, utter disregard for the rule of law and the unending alienation of youth, women and persons with disabilities from the political process.

The event will feature professionally moderated plenary and syndicated sessions with carefully selected experienced resource persons from Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tunisia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and United Kingdom.
