Sign Language Interpreters Begin Work in Abuja Hospitals

In a bid to increase and make sign-language interpretation service available within the health systems of Nigeria, Ipas with support from the Australian Aid has launched the free sign-language interpreters’ service in hospitals.

The service which will cater for the deaf kick-started on Monday 29th August, 2016.
According to the initiators, the free sign-language service will bridge the communication gap between the deaf clients and the health workers especially in Abuja and its environs.

The initiative will be formally launched in the coming weeks but the service has begun.
