500 triathlon athletes will vie for honours at the fourth edition of Triathlon Fiesta slated for Monday, 26th of October through Sunday, 1st of November at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

The sport, according to the Chairman, Lagos State Triathlon Association, Sikuade Jagun, is an extraction of long distance performance in swimming, cycling and running.

While describing the sport, which was accepted as olympic sport during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, as a new game in the country, Jagun, said the competition would serve as an avenue to select triathlon athletes for the national championship tentatively fixed for November in Lagos State.

Sikuade Jagun, said the competition designed for athlets between six and eighteen years would motivate the assosiation to breed and nurture Nigerian athletes to become international stars.

He added that the association would organise a clinic for coaches, and technical officials to acquaint themselves with the current and mordern techniques of triathlon.

He assured that the association would not relent in its efforts to sustain its grassroots development programmes at the secondary school level and the local government councils.
