THE United Nations (UN) has said it would continue to remind the political office holders and the agency saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the welfares of the extreme poor persons in the country to perform their constitutional responsibility to them.
The Regional Director, African UN Millennium Campaign, Charles Abugre said this in Abuja Friday during the presentation of award of recognition to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Dr. Precious Gbenoel for her numerous contributions toward the sustenance of MDG in Nigeria.
The Director stressed that the leaders would be justified based on the results of their performances to the nation.
He said, “We have to keep the pressure on the political office holders and the agency on all the time. We have to keep encouraging president to keep looking at the condition of the poor. We have to keep reminding everybody in position of power and authorities to continue to think about the conditions of the poor and to make sure that the purpose of being in political authority is defined by what they have done to improve the lives of every Nigerian and Africa.”
